OTHER HORSE SHOW EXPENSES
ENTRIES
Each owner/rider is responsible for making his or her own entries and stall reservations, along with appropriate fees as required by any particular show, in a timely fashion. (Sending a copy of your USEF number, your horse’s USEF number and coggins will save time when picking up numbers, especially if someone else is picking your number up for you. Please make a note on your entry to be stabled with Hampden Row.
There will be a $10 charge if Hampden Row enters your horse or closes out show bill.
TACK AND GROOMING STALLS
The cost of the tack, feed and grooming stalls will be divided among all exhibitors – even those not spending the night. Hampden Row will make these reservations. Most shows will split up these fees and put them on your individual show bill.
BEDDING AND NIGHTWATCH
Please pay for all bedding and nightwatch fees before leaving the show. Again, some shows will add these fees to your show bill.
HOTEL AND FOOD EXPENSES
Food and Hotel expenses will be divided among all exhibitors/owners for the appropriate days/nights. Hampden Row will also bill for the grooms’ expenses.
GROOMS CARE AND COSTS
Day care costs, as well as hotel and food expenses, will be divided between exhibitors using this service. Please pay day care fees with cash or a check made out to “cash” before leaving the show. If you aren’t planning on attending the show, please make sure that the appropriate checks or cash get to the show through someone else. We have a well-qualified, hard working group that helps us at the shows. Please consider showing your appreciation by an appropriate tip.
BRAIDING EXPENSES
Our braiders normally leave an envelope by a grooming stall for your convenience. Please pay the braiders by the morning of your last day of showing.
TRANSPORTATION
In order to have a truck and trailer available for everyone’s convenience, it must be used as much as possible. We expect boarders without their own trailers to ship their horses in our trailer. We will arrange transportation for any excess. These costs will be billed through Hampden Row.
HORSE SHOW GUIDELINES
Ø Please clean, prepare and pack your equipment before each show. Also, please make sure you leave with all your tack, clothes, etc., or at least put them in the trailer. At the end of the show, it is easy for things to get mixed up and go home with the wrong person.
Ø Horses should be bathed and trimmed before leaving home. There is rarely time enough or warm water once we get to the show.
Ø Please make an effort to be neat around the barn area and pick up trash, clothes, etc. The grooms work hard to keep things looking neat and we need to help do our part.
Ø Remember that a big part of horse showing is “show”. We ask that everyone try to coordinate trunks, blankets, coolers, etc. in Hampden Row colors. Trunks in other colors can be changed at a reasonable cost. If this isn’t an option, please try to get a trunk cover in our colors. It is important that we are a team effort!
Ø This team effort includes good sportsmanship and a friendly and supportive atmosphere. Please make an effort to go to the ring and clap for the other riders. Bad sportsmanship is a reflection on all of us.
Ø We have a sign-up board at the barn with shows listed for each month. Please sign up as early as possible so we can plan stall counts, reservations, etc.
Ø We encourage everyone to make hotel reservations early, especially for the AA shows and Culpeper. The rooms seem to go quickly.
